WolfWalking Cards ~ Original Paintings
To lead people, walk behind them. -- Lao Tzu
~ Shadow Teacher ~
"When you are lonely or in darkness, I wish I could show you
the astonishing light of your own being." When I was a little girl, I was drawing a picture and a man stood above me, scolding me for what I was drawing. I shut down for fear of something bad happening again. I forgot about it until many years later when I drew a picture of this event during an art therapy session.

The Wolf and His Shadow
Roaming by the mountainside at sundown, a wolf saw his own shadow become greatly extended and magnified. He said to himself, "Why should I... being of such an immense size and extending nearly an acre in length, be afraid of the lion? Ought I not to be acknowledged as King of all the collected beasts?"
While he was busy indulging himself in these prideful thoughts, a lion fell upon him and killed him. With a too late repentance he exclaimed, "Wretched me! This over-estimation of myself is the cause of my destruction."

I had to learn to turn back towards the truth of my being to recognize myself; the light that I am, to truly understand that a way will be shown to me. Every time I turn away, I just have to remind myself to turn around and take another look. I have to choose to see the situation once again to remain true to myself. The Eagle feather to me represents the gifts of my Grandmothers that have been offered to me. (and that could mean something else to you entirely :) It is the cleansing, the weightlessness and the blessings of Spirit that brings balance to any situation I am involved in. I had to claim the essence of my Artist self, fight for it, prove to myself that I really want this gift in order to share it with others. The Wolf is my Guide as a teacher, healer and pathfinder. Nature is the green that surrounds all, the feminine, the fecundity of the void that contains all possibilities. The light that I am is surrounded by pink, Love, a heart ray that extends out into the darkness to nurture all that come into range of my Artworks. |
